So, it's been several months since I've posted art or, well, done anything for myself in terms of my first love-- painting & drawing. I've been sewing up a storm after joining the SCA, and now I'm actually looking at cosplay. Given my age, I wonder if it's rational. I love games, but I love medieval history more. Perhaps if I stick to games with a strong historical influence in clothing, I'll feel all right.
Anyway, I'm looking at my fanfic again and am wondering where I should go with it. I had a great idea, but I realize I'm far too descriptive. I feel like I've concentrated too much on bringing out historical details than I have been about telling a story. Perhaps that's where my ability as an illustrator should take over, and I can go back and illustrate the scenes I write. I've wanted to do this anyway. I feel that it'll make me a better fantasy illustrator if I see things from the author's perspective.
My current plan is using a process I failed to use in my writing doodles: Create an outline, plot the path with the points & subpoints, then write my story within it. I feel like I'll work better if I plot my path. What are some things that you all use? I'm considering messing with Nanowrimo this time, but I'm not sure yet. I feel like it'll end up being more of a burden than a help.
